Reach out to communities, workplaces and masses to generate awareness about TB, establish TB as a curable disease, reduce stigma related to it and increase knowledge about free services offered by Government for TB prevention and care.
Community focussed awareness campaigns for increasing awareness about TB symptoms, promoting early diagnosis and treatment and encouraging treatment adherence, is key to addressing the TB challenge in India. The National Program requires support in reaching out to the unreached. The Corporate sector with its connect with workers and communities can play a vital role in generating awareness, facilitating early identification of TB patients and supporting their treatment.
An integrated community based intervention focussing on mass awareness on TB including use of IEC materials, training of ASHA workers, use of mid-media, wall paintings etc can be supported in an adopted geography. Despite TB being a curable disease and free of cost treatment being provided by the Government, India continues to have the highest incidence of TB in the world along with highest TB mortality.
